CWRU startup CLEANR launches microplastic filter for home washers
Cleveland-based startup CLEANR has launched an external filtration unit designed to reduce microplastic pollution straight from household laundry. The filter connects with any washing machine to remove over 90% of microplastics before they enter our waterways. Installation takes under 15 minutes and requires less than 30 seconds of weekly maintenance.
Developed from technology first created by students at Case Western Reserve University, CLEANR’s patented VORTX™ filtration system uses vortex flow dynamics to separate microplastics from wash water without slowing down cycles. Installation takes less than 15 minutes, and weekly maintenance requires under 30 seconds.
CLEANR’s mission is to make sustainability simple and effective.
